If you are prone to epilepsy, watch out for Cyberpunk 2077. Liana Ruppert, editor at gameinformer, has indeed suffered some crises while testing the game, which is slated for release on December 10 after several postponements. As she explains, “The rapid flashing of lights, especially red and white” are well-known triggers for people with the disease. It turns out that Night City, the town where the story takes place, is filled with it.

“During my games on Cyberpunk 2077, I suffered a major crisis and I felt several times that I was close to having another”, explains Liana. [Le jeu] addresses all personal excesses. […] Everything is clearer, more sonorous, more in your face ”. The journalist describes as well as many bars and nightclubs are real “Danger zones” for her. Braindance sequences at the origin of many epileptic seizures

Liana Ruppert focuses particularly on the sequences of Braindance, which allow you to interact with other people’s memories. CD Projekt, studio creator of the game, has made it a central argument in its communication. “When preparing for Braindance, especially with Judy, V [personnage principal du jeu, ndlr] receives a headset which triggers the process ”, she explains. “The helmet is placed over both eyes and shows a rapid sequence of white and red LEDs.” Liana specifies that this cutscene looks like the material used by neurologists to trigger epileptic seizures.

Other gameplay sequences related to Braindance are also likely to cause seizures, such as sound bites and temperature displays. To still enjoy the game, Liana Ruppert advises pause time to prepare for the cutscenes, or even look away or close your eyes. The presence of a loved one can also be useful during these times. Finally, the “eye protection”Monitors are effective in reducing risk, just like any option that decreases blue lights. As a reminder, Cyberpunk 2077 is available as a pre-download on GOG Galaxy.
