Cyberpunk 2077: CDPR admits PS4 and Xbox versions were not ready

CD Projekt Red held an emergency meeting in which one of the managers admits that the studio has not devoted enough time to the development of Cyberpunk 2077 on current gen consoles (PS4 and Xbox One).

CD Projekt Red held a emergency meeting to debrief the many problems that thwarted Cyberpunk 2077’s launch, leading the studio’s share price to drop 50%. One of the company’s vice-presidents, Michal Nowalowski, was in the process forced to admit that CD Projekt Red has focused its resources too much on the next-gen versions (which are not yet really available, on PS5 and Xbox Series X), PC and Stadia, at the expense of the PS4 and Xbox One versions of Cyberpunk 2077.

The official said in particular: “It was more for us to focus, as we said previously, in PC and next-gen performance rather than that of the current generation, and we obviously did not spend enough time on this. I wouldn’t say we were under internal or external pressure to launch the game on that date – if we omit normal pressure before any launch. It was not the cause of [ces problèmes]”.

Clearly, the person in charge should not necessarily be taken literally when he talks about pressure. The release of Cyberpunk 2077 was expected almost like the messiah for years, and CD Projekt Red had already postponed the game’s release on several occasions. Arousing the ire of fans. Marcin Iwiński the CEO of CD Projekt Red adds that the development of the Xbox One X and PS4 versions took place until the last moment: “Alas, this resulted in a situation where reporters got the game just a day before launch, which was really too late, and the media did not have a chance to properly test the game. ‘was not wanted, we were just fixing the game until the last moment ”.
