The design of iPhone 7 and 7 More red PRODUCT (RED) from Apple is not unanimous within the apple community. Many users have been disappointed with the white front cover of these two phones, which they would have preferred in black. How to cure it ? The answer with the youtubeur Danny Winget.
Danny Winget’s process is simple in theory. The man takes only the front cover of a jet black iPhone 7 Plus to replace that of the iPhone 7 (RED). However, the intervention is much more complicated in practice. By replacing only the front window, the Touch ID is no longer functional. This sensor is indeed connected to the motherboard of the phone, and it is no longer operational once there is a disconnection.
In a video shared on Saturday on his YouTube channel, Danny Winget explains how he did it. To end up with a red iPhone 7 with a black front and a functional Touch ID, the youtubeur has moved all the components of its jet black iPhone 7 Plus into the version 7 (RED) case.
Finally, be aware that this operation is not without consequence. In addition to ending up with a phone without warranty, you also lose IP67 protection (resistance to water and dust) … Handling to be done at your own risk!
