Canceling “unnecessary” trips and conferences is the new recommendation issued by the county of Santa Clara in an effort to combat the spread of the coronavirus.
Santa Clara County is home to many large tech companies, including Apple (in Cupertino), Google (at Mountain View), You’re here (at Palo Alto), Netflix (in Los Gatos) and many more. Other companies that are not headquartered in the region, but have offices there, could also be affected.
Santa Clara County officials recommend that these companies postpone or cancel conferences and large events with large numbers of people.
For its part, the WWDC Apple (organized every year in June to present the new iOS, macOS, watchOS and tvOS) takes place in San José, and for information, the city is the county seat of Santa Clara. So while Apple has yet to officially announce the developer keynote this year, there are certainly signs that it may not go as planned.
