Apple has updated its advice on cleaning its products.
Until recently, the Californian firm recommended using a soft, slightly damp and lint-free cloth to clean the screen of an iPhone, as well as all of its products. But the coronavirus epidemic that currently affects the world has prompted Apple to reconsider its recommendations.
Henceforth, on his page How to clean your Apple products, the Californian firm advises to use alcohol wipes. A recommendation obviously based on what advocates health professionals to limit the spread of coronavirus.
According to infectious disease experts, the Covid-19 virus can survive on a flat surface for between 2 hours and 9 days, under certain conditions. Regular cleaning of your smartphone – and your hands – is therefore essential to fight against coronavirus.
On the American version from his site, Apple recommends using 70% isopropyl alcohol wipes or disinfectant wipes for the monitor, keyboard and other exterior surfaces.
At the same time, Apple advises against using bleach, as well as immersing your smartphone in any cleaning product. The firm also stresses to avoid any projection of liquid in the openings of the device.
Finally, the Apple advises against placing your smartphone on a fabric or leather surface.
