Copy passwords from one Mac to another

Most Mac users use the native migration tool to copy all files, folders, preferences, and connection data from one computer to another. This is not always a workable option if your hard drive fails or simply if you prefer to manually migrate very specific data from an old Mac to a new one such as passwords. Aimed at advanced users, this article will focus on transferring all the passwords and login information you have stored on one Mac to another Mac, transferring all of the crucial login data handled by the Keychain application.

copy keychain to new mac - Tutorial: Copy passwords from one Mac to another 1. In the Mac Finder containing the original keychain file, use the following combination: Command + Shift + G to open "Go to folder" and enter the following path:

2. On the new Mac, press "Command + Spacebar" to open Spotlight and type "Keychain" then press "Enter", the keychain opens.

3. Pull down the “File” menu, select “Add a keychain” and find the file you have copied to the new Mac, select Add to import the data to the new Mac.
