CES 2021: LG presents webOS 6.0 and the new Magic Remote for its Smart TVs

G presented the 6th version of webOS ahead of CES 2021, as well as a new Magic Remote. The firm has thus revisited the interface of its Smart TVs, in particular by making the most used applications easier to access. The dedicated remote control is equipped with NFC support to share the screen of your smartphone on the television.

LG Web OS 6.0

The 2021 edition of CES will give pride of place to innovations in the field of Smart TVs, with Sony notably presenting the new Bravia XR TVs boosted with artificial intelligence. LG is not left out, since it has already presented a gaming screen that curves at will. The firm does not stop there and also unveils the new version of webOS, the operating system installed on its televisions.

This 6th version has thus acquired a completely new design, destined to be more intuitive for its user. For this, the home screen now occupies all the space, while the old version only occupied its lower part. To support this change, the latter now displays the most used applications, as well as content recommendations based on viewing history.

The new Magic Remote will allow you to share the screen of your smartphone

WebOS 6.0 also comes with an all-new Magic Remote. According to LG, the remote control offers “Simplified controls using voice command, as well as multiple artificial intelligence features with LG ThinQ, Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant”. That’s not all: the Magic Remote is equipped with the NFC technology, which will allow the user to share your smartphone screen on his television.

Last December, LG unveiled an invisible OLED TV screen for the home, once again illustrating the firm’s desire to offer products and features that improve the daily lives of its users. With this in mind, she announced that her virtual assistant ThinQ will also be updated, which will allow Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa to receive new voice commands. The operating system and the Magic Remote will be available current 2021 on OLED TV, QNED Mini LED, NanoCell and UHD.
