calm down before 5G and Alcatel-Lucent are digested

Nokia HQ logoNokia reports financial results for the July-September quarter. The Finnish group announces a turnover of € 5.95 billion, down 7% from the same period last year, and profits from 556 million euros, down 18%.

The results are explained by the revenues of the network branch, down 12% to 5.32 billion, with investments in 4G which peaked to decrease and investments in 5G which have not yet taken over, the 4G to 5G transition not to start before 2020. Not to mention that Nokia must still finish absorbing Alcatel-Lucent, before the acquisition of the latter, for 15.6 billion euros, begins to bear fruit.

Nokia and analysts expect three years a little quieter. Investors were obviously not pleased with such a prospect, with a headline that wandered fromabout 7% following the announcements, to finish at 4.36 euros. Now, competitor Ericsson does not look much better on his side. The Swedish giant has also seen its revenues melt.
