Bouygues is finally launching into community Wi-Fi. After Freebox and Neufbox, it’s the Bbox’s turn to turn into a Wi-Fi hotspot.

Bouygues Telecom Internet customers will be able to have free Wi-Fi on the 700,000 Bboxes deployed. Subscribers to the Evasio.2 and Neo.4 mobile offers are also affected by this infrastructure. The connection of the Bbox subscriber will not be slowed down, the service using only inactive bandwidth. External connections will be valid for two hours, renewable.

Bbox owners who do not wish this option to be active at home will have to deactivate it in the store. But then, they will no longer be able to take advantage of the Wi-Fi hotspots of other Bboxes.

To note that all devices that connect to the Internet via Bouygues community Wi-Fi will be assigned a separate IP address from that of the local network. This system will secure the subscriber with respect to the Hadopi, for example.
