While the 2016 Macbook Pro with Touch Bar received mixed reviews from specialists (see our test for a month with a 13-inch Macbook Pro with Touch Bar), it's mostly the scathing feedback from customers that hurt Apple.
Touch Bar not necessarily very useful, disappearing ports HDMI, USB, Thunderbolt, etc. The proof, the refurb is already full of these new machines while it usually takes more than a year before having a few reconditioned version.
According to Thom Holwerda, Apple would therefore work on an entry-level version without touch bar in 15 inches too, just to lower the rating that climbed nearly 500 euros according to models between 2015 and 2016.
Apple has taken a slap and seems to be trying a fit. So, update without keynote or announcement of a new range? We will certainly know at the beginning of September with the iPhone 8, Apple Watch 3 and Apple TV 5.
For the record, this follows the announcement of Apple preparing a range of new Mac Pro for 2018/2019.
