Counterpoint Research predicts that Apple will sell more than 100 million completely wireless devices in 2020, thereby retaining a “big advantage” in the market.
In its report of the day, Counterpoint revealed that the market had exceeded growth expectations expected for the fourth quarter of 2019, reaching 53%. The United States was the main driver of this growth during the quarter, with a share of 76% on a quarterly basis.
Thanks to AirPods Pro, Apple is experiencing excellent growth. The Cupertino company recorded constant growth of 44% in Q4 in 2019, with 6 million units sold despite supply problems. Apple’s market share, however, declined slightly, reaching 41% on a quarterly basis, and 47% if all year round.
Looking ahead, analyst Liz Lee said Apple will sell more than 100 million 100% wireless devices in 2020, including the AirPods Pro. The Californian glove will keep its first place in this market. The real battle will be for second place, especially in the premium market. In the case of Samsung, which sold 8 million Galaxy Buds last year, it will need something more than the next Galaxy Buds Plus if it is to maintain its competitive position.
