Apple has been given the green light by the Spanish authorities for the construction of its third Apple Store Madrid. The American company has also seen a lot since the new store is located in the historic district and provides for the renovation of a classy building …
The photo above shows what the building should look like when refurbished. Some of you may have recognized it since it is the "Tio Pepe" building in the "Puerta del Sol" Madrid. Cupertino would have decided to invest a very large sum of money to renovate the building, in agreement with the authorities, and thus restore its prestige. An initiative that the city of Madrid seems particularly to appreciate since the Spanish newspaper El Pais has revealed today that the mayor thinks that this work will help increase the interest of tourists for this place.
The building has been occupied for four years. During this period, it continued to deteriorate, and renovation plans were therefore a priority. Apple apparently occupies the ground floor, the first floor, as well as the basement of the building. Various elements will be added to the painting, including elevators and a glass roof behind the building in order to modernize the infrastructure a little. This new Apple Store, on the other hand, should be larger than the other Apple Stores and be slightly different in design.
According to available information, the renovations are expected to be completed next fall, which means the store could open before Christmas 2012.
