Two weeks ago, we learned thatApple had obtained a patent allowing to remotely disable iPhone camera during a concert or similar event (read: Apple patent: block photos and videos taken with the iPhone in concert). This obviously does not seem to please everyone, since a petition is currently being organized to cancel this patent. At the time of writing, more than 17,000 users have already signed it.
As a reminder, such a feature was considered to prevent iPhone owners from spending their time taking photos during a concert, which can damage the overall atmosphere. However, the initiators of this petition to revoke the patent believe that this technology could be a way for the authorities to avoid the capture of images which do not comply with the law or human rights during arrests, for example .
For the moment, the apple company has not yet reacted to this petition which is really starting to gain momentum. However, there is a good chance that she will finally never use this patent and therefore give the applicants the right to do so. Case to follow…
