Two weeks ago, we learned thatApple had obtained a patent allowing to remotely disable iPhone camera during a concert or similar event (read: Apple patent: block photos and videos taken with the iPhone in concert). This obviously does not seem to please everyone, since a petition is currently being organized to cancel this patent. At the time of writing, more than 17,000 users have already signed it.

However, the initiators of this petition to revoke the patent believe that this technology could be a way for the authorities to avoid the capture of images which do not comply with the law or human rights during arrests, for example .

For the moment, the apple company has not yet reacted to this petition which is really starting to gain momentum. However, there is a good chance that she will finally never use this patent and therefore give the applicants the right to do so. Case to follow…
