In a press release posted a few days ago on its press site, Apple announced the opening of its campus Apple park, imagined by Steve Jobs, from next April. As a reminder, the latter extends over an area of 70 hectares, and is located in the heart of the Santa Clara Valley (California). It will accommodate 12,000 employees.
A gigantic 260,000 square meter ring, the main building of this “Campus 2” is entirely covered with the largest curved glass panels in the world. It is often compared to a huge flying saucer as its design is futuristic, and is powered 100% by renewable energy.
On Friday February 24, Steve Jobs would have been 62 years old. To honor his memory and pay tribute to the influence he continues to exert on Apple and on the world, the amphitheater of Apple Park will be called “Steve Jobs Theater”. “Steve’s vision for Apple extended far beyond the time he spent with us. He wanted Apple Park to be a hotbed of innovation for generations to come“Said Tim Cook, Apple CEO.
Apple Park will also include a visitor reception area, with an Apple Store and café open to the public, a nearly 10,000 square meter fitness center for Apple employees, secure research and development facilities , and many green spaces.
