Fake news is a scourge. To counter it, the web giants are struggling more and more to deploy measures, but some still fall through the cracks. Sure Facebook for example, it is difficult to prevent people from expressing themselves, since sharing is a matter of freedom of expression. Today, it is the turn of the apple brand to launch its own initiatives to fight infoxication, by supporting certain organizations.
The Cupertino company wants to advocate media education to allow students to be better informed. By collaborating with several non-profit organizations in the United States and Europe, such as News Literacy Project, Common sense or theOsservatorio Permanente Giovani Editori, the Californian firm wants to ban fake news.
Tim cook, the president and CEO ofApple, said : ” Fluency in the press is essential to supporting a free press and a thriving democracy, and we are proud to work with organizations working on the front lines to achieve this goal. We were impressed by the work of the News Literacy Project, Common Sense and the Osservatorio, which enables young people to be active and engaged citizens. “
These organizations aim to teach students to recognize fake news. A great initiative which, we hope, will democratize to all large companies.
