Apple invests $ 250 million in Corning behind the glass of the iPhone

As you probably know, Corning is the manufacturer of iPhone lenses. Leader in its field, it is for this reason that iPhone 11, 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max are also solid. After making a first investment in this company in 2017 ($ 200 million), the Cupertino company is now injecting an additional $ 250 million into the company.

Note that Corning is a major supplier of glass screens for electronic devices, televisions and smartphones. According to estimates made by experts, 7 billion devices are equipped with a glass manufactured by said firm.

In a press release Apple, we learn that ” The glass on each generation of iPhones, including the iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro, which will be available later this week, was manufactured at the Corning plant in Harrodsburg, Kentucky. The latest iPhone models have the toughest glass ever designed for a smartphone, as well as a machined back of a single glass allowing wireless charging. ”

The Apple brand also specifies that this investment would allow Corning to finance research, the development of new technologies and the acquisition of new equipment and materials for the next devices of the American firm. The next iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch will certainly be equipped with an even more resistant glass.
