TheiPad mini 4 finally has a successor! Announced in tandem with the new iPad Air 10.5 inches, theiPad mini 5 landed in fury and completely unexpectedly on the Apple Store, following an update of the store. The small tablet looks like an affordable device, but anything but innovative. But what are its characteristics? The writing of World is Small tells you more about this device iOS quality.

In terms of design, as we have told you over and over again, the iPad mini 5 is no different from its predecessor. The small tablet still has its (gigantic) borders around the screen and its button Touch ID. No Face ID so, like a iPhone XS. The iPad mini 5 retains its Lightning connector, its Jack plug and its two stereo speakers. The microphone however changes location and is no longer located next to the back camera but in the center of the tablet. Strange…

iPad mini 5 - Apple: How does the iPad mini 5 differ from its predecessor?

It is mainly the interior characteristics that change. Instead of the A8 chip (not compatible with ARKit, Apple’s augmented reality technology), we find the A12 Bionic chip, three times faster at the CPU level and nine times faster at the graphics level. iOS 12 is obviously there. The Retina screen is also present, and becomes TrueTone compatible. It benefits from a 25% higher brightness, and is compatible with Apple Pencil. The front camera has a 7 megapixel sensor capable of shooting in 1080p, and the rear camera is 8 megapixels with the capture of Live Photos.

Moreover, the iPad mini 5 benefits from a 10 hour autonomy, Bluetooth 5.0, and will cost € 459 with 64 GB of storage or € 629 with 256 GB of storage. You will have to add 140 € to have the 4G version. Delivery scheduled between April 3 and 5, in a silver, space gray or gold colorway.
