Apple unveils three versions of its iPhone 11, with some differences in terms of screen and on-board memory. But it is especially on the side of the photo sensor that these models are innovative.

In addition to the iPad 7 and the Apple Watch Series 5, the three iPhone 11s presented today by Apple are full of new features and improvements compared to current models. We will especially remember the AMOLED Retina screens on the Pro and Pro Max, the omnipresence of the SoC A13 (engraved in 7nm EUV by TSMC), the slightly revised design based on anodized aluminum and a new photo module on the Pro and Pro versions Max. The latter includes three sensors, including an ultra wide lens.

A large part of the rumors concerning the characteristics of these Apple smartphones are confirmed. The video functions are thus particularly highlighted with for example the possibility of capturing sequences in 4K at 60 fps. Facial recognition is improved with an “enhanced Face ID” feature supposed to speed up this process.

Water resistance is also improved with an IP68 certification up to 2 meters deep, where the iPhone XR was limited to IP67. Six acid colors are available: purple, white, green, yellow, black and red.

If the three models are equipped with the same A13 Bionic SoC, announced as faster on the CPU and GPU side, significant differences are visible between the models. Only the Pro and Pro Max, for example, benefit from an “Super Retina XDR” OLED screen. They are also the only versions to carry 6 GB of memory, the iPhone 11 being content with 4 GB.

In terms of photo sensors, the three models have a 12 Mpixel camera at the front, but the triple 12 Mpixel sensor at the rear is reserved for the Pro and Pro Max versions. The ultra wide angle lens is absent from the basic model, limited to two sensors. The three models, on the other hand, benefit from a new night mode and better optical stabilization.
