A few days before the official release ofApple Watch, Apple has recently been granted several patents for its Sport bracelets, its link bracelets and those with a classic buckle. A good way to protect yourself against future copies that will undoubtedly invade the connected watch market in the coming months.
Although filed in August 2014 by the Cupertino company, these three patents (whose numbers are D727,197, D727,198 and D727,199) were only granted to Apple very recently, by the very serious United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). They come a few weeks after the patent obtained for the bracelet with the modern buckle.
In the three descriptions, Apple claims “The ornamental design for a band, as shown and described”(An ornamental design for a bracelet). There is no doubt that the Californian brand will do everything to appropriate the design of the majority of its bracelets, in order to be able to put pressure on companies which will want to enter the emerging market of smartwatches.
