To respond to dissatisfied iPhone owners, Apple recently posted a page titled “About the Wi-Fi Assistance option‘on its support. to help them better manage their data consumption. It explains the detailed operation of this option and how to easily deactivate it (in Settings> Cellular).
In addition, the Cupertino company made it clear that the Wi-Fi Assistance option does not automatically switch to a mobile data connection if you are abroad, that it only works when applications run in the foreground, and finally that it does not activate when using certain third-party applications allowing the distribution of audio or video files, or the downloading of attachments.
