A new report from TechCrunch reveals thatApple acquired the startup specialized in photography technologies for smartphones, SnappyLabs.
SnappyLabs is known to have developed the application SnappyCam. As its name suggests, the great feature of SnappyCam is its ability to take photos in high resolution at 20 to 30 frames per second, which is much faster than the native Camera app on iOS. SnappyCam, on the iPhone, is the world’s fastest smartphone camera.
The acquisition was suspected when SnappyCam has curiously disappeared from theApp store and that all the SnappyLabs websites have become inaccessible… Now wait untilApple confirms the acquisition. We should not expect many details on the transaction since the company is generally not very talkative when it comes to disclosing information about its buyouts. For now, John Papandriopoulos’ LinkedIn profile still lists him as CEO and founder of SnappyLabs.
