Apple has become the undisputed leader in wireless headphones. At the end of AirPods however, they were little to believe: two earpieces similar to cotton swabs, it seemed not very sexy. And yet, the apple brand seems to have democratized a new market. Proof of this is this new data, based on the end of 2018, which gives the Cupertino company the big winner in sales.
According to research firm Counterpoint, 12.5 million wireless headphones were marketed worldwide in the last quarter of last year, and Apple’s AirPods captured 60% of the market. Yes, 60%. Apple, however, fell slightly at the end of the year because consumers expected the release of AirPods 2: released only a few days ago.
On the top 10 markets, after the AirPods, you can find the Jabra Elite Active 65, the Samsung Gear IconX, the JLab JBuds Air TW, the Bose SoundSport Free, the QCY T1, the JBL Free X, the Huawei FreeBuds, the Sony WF-SP700N and the iQ Podz 05. The apple brand was first in North America, obviously, but slightly worse in Europe and China. Competition is fierce on the old continent and in the Middle Empire.
