a robot that folds clothes

Seven Dreamers is a Japanese company specializing in robotics that could be similar to household appliances. His idea: to offer robotic devices specialized in repetitive everyday tasks, such as folding clothes.

This is how the firm demonstrated Laundroid, a robot hidden in a cabinet that specializes in a specific task: folding the laundry for the user. You just have to put your clothes or linens in its compartment, and let the machine do the work.

The copy used for the demonstration does not shine by its speed, and note also that it is only capable of treating one garment at a time … We will therefore be quicker to fold our laundry ourselves waiting for him to finish the first shirt we presented to him.

But the model should evolve and should be able to adapt to each garment, but also offer specific folds to avoid creasing or marking the fabrics or even to optimize the storage space.

In the future, it is even planned to connect the robot directly to a washing machine and dryer, so that the user only has to put their dirty laundry in a compartment before finding it folded, and why not even stored in a specific cabinet. The final version of Laundroid should be presented in 2020, it remains to be seen whether it will be necessary to dedicate an entire room to it or whether the concept will have managed to miniaturize in the meantime.
