a new interface on Android

Google Chrome Dev on Android offers a new interface on smartphones. It is present by default, without having to activate an experimental functionality in the flags (chrome: // flags). A priori, this suggests that it will be later reflected in the beta then stable version of Google Chrome.

With a new tab, buttons for home, downloads, favorites and history are positioned at the bottom of the screen with direct access. Positioning – and labeling – which recalls the new path taken for the YouTube application.

This organization at the bottom of the screen is found during navigation with also the address bar and parameters. Pressing in the address bar brings you back to an entry at the top of the screen. Otherwise, the entire bottom section can be extended to half the screen in portrait mode.

The new layout would aim to take into account the growing size of the screens of certain smartphones by facilitating use with one hand, insofar as the controls are accessible at the bottom of the screen.
