Following the presentation and release of the Freebox mini 4K on Android TV, resistance is being organized among other ISPs, starting with Bouygues Telecom which announces the availability of its Miami Bbox to everyone.
Since January 29, Bouygues Telecom has offered its Bbox Miami to new subscribers. The displayed advantage of the operator's box was its OS: Android 4.2.2, which provides access to a set of connected functionalities.
Didier Casas, secretary general and spokesperson for Bouygues has just announced that the Bbox Miami will be open to all ISP customers from March 23.
The other news is that the Bbox will soon benefit from an update allowing it to switch to Android TV, like the Freebox mini 4K. The advantage of the OS is that it is specifically designed to operate from large screens, navigation is therefore facilitated with remote controls and voice commands.
The objective is clear on the side of Bouygues: not to be left behind by Free after having launched the operator box market on Android.
By the way, updating the Bbox Miami to Android TV will unlock the machine. Up to now compatible with ADSL / VDSL offers at 50 Mb / s it will be compatible with optical fiber … always to counter Free. The Bbox Miami will display an unchanged price: 25.99 euros per month.
