The Taiwanese group Asus It does not necessarily have the distribution channels of other players in the mobile market, but it relies on its dynamism and its positive image with consumers to find a place in the difficult segment of smartphones.
The company has in fact been present in the niche since the beginnings of smartphones (and before that on PDAs and PDAPhones) but with variable success, partly linked to a lack of visibility with mobile operators.
With its partnership with Google around tablets Nexus 7 2012 and 2013, the Asus group strengthened its visibility on mobile products and took the opportunity to organize a reboot of its strategy in smartphones by launching the range Asus ZenFone in 2014 and based on Intel Atom mobile processors.
This relaunch continues in 2015 with a model Asus ZenFone 2 presented at CES 2015 in Las Vegas in January and that we were able to approach at the show MWC 2015 from Barcelona. And this new version appears a bit like the model of maturity which fully lifts the brand to the level of its competitors in terms of finish and performance.
The Asus ZenFone 2 still benefits from a 64-Bit Intel Atom processor, with the choice of 1.8 GHz Z2360 or 2.3 GHz Z3580 with graphics PowerVR 6 (G6430, also found in the SoC Apple A7) from Imagination Technologies and associated with 2 or 4 GB RAM depending on the configuration.
The smartphone offers 16 to 64 GB of storage space, expandable by microSD port (up to 64 GB), and with Asus WebStorage cloud storage of 5 GB.
The smartphone has a 5.5 inch display in Full HD resolution extending to the edges of the device and protected by Gorilla Glass 3. Its handling is balanced and the device has control keys volume on the back. There is also a 13 megapixel camera with f / 2.0 aperture for quality shots even in low light, which Asus demonstrated on its stand via functionality PixelMaster.
At the front, it's a module 5 megapixels which is present, also with an f / 2.0 aperture and a Panorama mode thanks to its wide angle sensor. The smartphone offers WiFi, Bluetooth and NFC wireless connectivity and ensures compatibility 4G LTE Cat 4 (up to 150 Mbps), with two SIM card slots.
It has a generous battery of 3000 mAh which has a fast charging mode allowing to reach 60% battery in less than 40 minutes. The smartphone operates Android 5.0 Lollipop with a new overlay Asus ZenUI offering wide possibilities for personalization and including data security features.
