The Megaboom from Ultimate Ears, the mobile audio division owned by Logitech, claims to be the best portable speaker on the market, and to do this, the brand is betting on increasing dimensions to allow it to offer a more powerful and clearer sound. .
Cylindrical in shape, it incorporates the codes launched by the UE Boom. It measures 8.5 cm in diameter by 22.5 cm in height and weighs 876 grams. The portable aspect is still there with a format close to a 50 cl soda can, but it will however be necessary to get closer to the old more compact model to really be able to carry it in a pocket.
The whole is announced as waterproof with an IPX7 certification (protection against immersion up to 1 meter), small flexible caps protecting the various jack and USB ports.
Connection with a smartphone, computer or tablet is done wirelessly via NFC or Bluetooth. In addition to music streaming, the speaker will offer phone call handling functionality. A dedicated application will make it possible to better manage the speaker remotely, and in particular with regard to control of playback, since the only buttons on the speaker are reserved for adjusting the sound.
As with Beats speakers and some on the market, it will be possible to combine two speakers to have simultaneous stereo operation. Side autonomy, the integrated battery promises 20 hours of operation, enough to last an entire evening without fear of seeing the sound cut automatically.
The range of the device is announced at 30 meters and the whole is compatible iOS and Android. Its price is however up to its dimensions since it will take 299 euros to afford it.
