Google Maps now highlights open restaurants that offer a home delivery service in France and several other countries. You only have to press a button to display their list and, if possible, place an order directly when the option is offered.
Google maps is being updated and has a new practical option during this period of containment. While many are currently turning to home meal delivery, the app highlights restaurants that offer this possibility. Two title buttons delivery and take away sale are now displayed on the home page, just below the search bar.
These shortcuts complete the list of those already offered by the application and which allow easier access to petrol stations, supermarkets, pharmacies, etc. In the restaurant listing, you can see suddenly those who are open. It is sometimes possible to order a meal directly in Google Maps and have it delivered to your home without going through the specialized services such as Uber Eats and Deliveroo whose deliverers continue to roam all over France.
Alternatively, phone numbers are available to make a call. In addition to other restaurant-related features, such as displaying the most popular dishes or the affinity score, you can find out which local restaurants are best for you. This is a small update which is very important in the current context and which is added to the initiatives of Google which seeks to make itself more useful in the face of the coronavirus pandemic.
We can confirm that these shortcuts are available now in France on Google Maps. As a reminder, the government still authorizes delivery of home meals during confinement, for little which is done without contact to ensure maximum protection for deliverers and customers. Instructions are also given to restaurateurs and meal preparers to respect barrier gestures.
