Apple acquired the Dark Sky weather app, as previously announced by the app?s developers.
Here is the press release:
Our goal has always been to provide the world with the best possible weather information, to help as many people stay safe, stay wet and do it all while respecting your privacy.
There is no better place to achieve these goals than at Apple. We are delighted to have the opportunity to reach many more people, with far greater impact than we could do on our own.
There will be no changes to the Dark Sky app for iOS, which will continue to be available for purchase on the App Store. Dark Sky for Android and WearOS will be suspended from July 1, 2020.
Weather forecast, maps and website information will be available until July 1, 2020. Support for APIs and iOS applications will remain available on the site even after that date.
Apple has not yet commented on this news.
