Apple replaces Macbook Pro 13 batteries without Touch Bar for free

marzo 25, 2020

icon macbook 2016Apple is finally replacing Macbooks Pro that have a swelling battery. For the moment, this only concerns 13 inch models without Touch Bar.

The Macbook models affected by the replacement program were manufactured between October 2016 and October 2017. If this is the case for you, Apple replaces the batteries for free, even in preventive form. And if you had already paid to change the battery, it will be reimbursed to you.

In a limited number of these models, a component can be defective and cause the battery to swell.

Apple has set up a dedicated web page that allows you to check if your MacBook Pro is affected, by submitting the serial number of your MacBook Pro.

Decidedly, battery concerns are always the most frequent, whether at Apple which has had problems recently with the #batteryGate or even elsewhere. Samsung has indeed gone through hell with its explosive Note7.

How to Find Your Mac's Serial Number

On most versions of macOS, you will find information on the model and serial number of your computer in the About window of this Mac.

Choose Apple menu ()> About this Mac. The window that appears shows the model name of your computer, for example MacBook Pro (13 inch, 2016, four Thunderbolt 3 ports), and its serial number. You can then use your serial number to view your service and support options or to access the technical specifications of your model.
