Mozilla has just put Firefox 74 online. The new iteration of the internet browser gives pride of place to increased security, in particular thanks to DNS-over-HTTPS, the end of support for TLS 1.0 and 1.1, stricter management help and features to prevent tracking of sites like Facebook.
Mozilla has just released Firefox 74. The new browser version, available today on Android, iOS, Windows, Linux and macOS, takes a leap forward and safer. It naturally takes up a feature introduced a few weeks ago, DNS-over-HTTPS, which quickly prevents your browsing data from passing unencrypted via DNS servers – and which is no longer new.
Especially Mozilla has decided to no longer support obsolete protocols like TLS 1.0 and 1.1 – and will only support TLS 1.2 to encrypt HTTPS connections. This change may affect some site administrators. Around 850,000 websites still use the TLS 1.0 and 1.1 encryption protocols. In addition, Firefox 74 attacks the installation of Add-ons by third-party applications.
Firefox 74 goes up a gear to protect privacy
The browser now prohibits this type of add-on, which could sometimes cause malicious extensions to be installed. Add-ons installed by external applications can now be removed via the Add-ons Manager (about: addons) – and from now on, only users will be able to install these extensions. Firefox is also increasing privacy protection for voice and video calls over the web with support for mDNS ICE.
The protocol allows you to mask your computer?s IP with a random ID in some WebRTC scenarios. Mozilla is also launching Facebook Container, an extension that is designed to prevent the social network from tracking you out of its domain. Extension that complements advanced privacy protection features (blocking of social network trackers, cross-site cracking cookies, and protection against fingerprinting).
