Clueful: the first iOS application to spot malicious apps

febrero 29, 2020

Bitdefender launches the first iOS app that reveals how apps access your personal data.

Clueful, this is the name of this new application that will allow you to know which applications installed on your iOS device are able to access more personal information than what they really need to function. Only available in English, the app has the role of identifying potentially malicious applications installed and allows you to discover all the information that the application editors can collect on your subject.

With a modern interface, the app provides information on the applications which locate you, which have a significant impact on the life of your battery, which access and use your directory, harass you with advertisements, follow and compile your activities via multiple analysis networks, which do not protect your usernames, passwords and also who discreetly access your Facebook, Twitter or Google accounts, among others.

When you install their products on your iPhone, application developers can request and receive access to your location, contact list, and other information about you says Fabrice Le Page, Bitdefender Product Manager at Editions Profil. Your iPhone is probably your most personal device; it contains large amounts of information about your privacy, what you do and where you are. Clueful tells you the types of personal information that installed apps can access so that you can make an informed decision about whether or not to use an app .

Clueful works by retrieving analytics information from the cloud and allows you to verify an application before installing it. Finally, it provides you with the information you need to decide who entrusts your personal data.

The application is available for download from the App Store at the price of 2.99. Bitdefender warns that a French version will be available soon.

We discuss it on the forum.
