iPhone CDMA: Apple in negotiation with China Telecom?

enero 24, 2020

We have been talking about the arrival of the first iPhone – compatible with the CDMA network standard – with the operator Verizon Wireless in the United States for a long time. Recent rumors from the Wall street journal claim that the US mobile operator would able to sell the CDMA iPhone early next year. From the side of Chinese daily life South China Morning Post, the latter would have had information – from a Deutsche Bank analyst – indicating that the operator China Unicom could soon lose the exclusivity of the sale of the iPhone in China.

According to the analyst, the Cupertino company is currently in active negotiations with the operator China Telecom which uses the CDMA network standard in particular! Even if China Unicom's direct competitor refused to confirm this information, sources close to the file indicate that if Apple signs its contract with its potential new partner, it could market the iPhone CDMA in the first quarter of 2011.

Finally, South China Morning Post indicates that the chip used to support this network standard will be produced by the manufacturer Qualcomm.

We discuss it on the forum.
