Apple proves "more flexible" with developers

enero 23, 2020

Apple announced this Thursday by press release significant changes to the license for its developer program. These changes could now open access to use "Third-party tools" to allow the development of applications for use on iOS.

In its press release, the Cupertino firm claims to have ?Significant changes? for sections 3.3.1, 3.3.2 and 3.3.9 of the license to use its developer program aimed at relaxing some of the restrictions put in place earlier this year. In an effort to improve transparency towards developers, Apple has also published approval criteria for its App Store ?Tightly controlled?.

The changes come weeks after the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) investigation began following a complaint by Adobe over banning its Flash technology on devices using Apple?s iOS. The FTC then refused to allow documents relating to the case to be exposed publicly so as not to interfere with the ongoing investigation.

As a reminder, Apple CEO Steve Jobs said the time he knew the painful experience to use ?Third-party tools? restrictive such as Adobe Flash, rather than developing directly ?In native mode? for the iPhone.

?We cannot be thankful to a third party for the decisive progress that we put the provisions of the developers ? Steve Jobs said at the time.

We discuss it on the forum.
