No geolocation for advertisements

enero 17, 2020

Since the introduction of the 3.2 firmware in beta version, Apple has made it clear to developers in prohibiting them from using geolocation to offer target advertising.

This new policy concerns the ?iPhone?s Core Location? service, which allows developers to access GPS, cellular, and Wi-Fi to determine the person?s geographic location. Apple therefore requests that this technology be used only in the specific context of their application and not something else.

This is likely to hurt developers who use advertising in their free applications to generate income and geolocation can target the proposed advertisements.

This transfer, from Apple, can also be explained by the recent acquisition of Quattro Wireless, specializing in advertising for mobile devices.

We discuss it on the forum.
