Apple TV + won its first prize: Billy Crudup of The Morning Show won the Critics Choice Award for the best second role in a dramatic series.
At the Critics Choice, Apple TV + only got one nomination, but it turned into a victory. Billy Crudup beat a cold competition, involving Asante Blackk (This Is Us), Asia Kate Dillon (Billions), Peter Dinklage (Game of Thrones) and Tim Blake Nelson (Watchmen). The simultaneous award for best actress in a second role was awarded to Jean Smart for his role in Watchmen.
The Morning Show was widely appreciated by critics and the public, so much so that it also obtained three nominations for the Golden Globes, including that of the best drama series.
The Critics Choice award represents the first major official victory for Apple TV +, awarded a few months after the service was launched.
The second season of The Morning Show is currently being filmed and is slated to start later this year.
