Recently, we introduced you to the 10 tips and tricks for iPad, it’s the iPhone’s turn. You may already know a few tricks and will probably discover some of them. Here is our list of 15 tips and tricks to get the most out of your iPhone.
Most manipulations will work for all iPhones. Some tips require at least an iPhone 7 with iOS 12.
15 tips and tricks on iPhone
1. Move multiple apps at once
In order to reorganize your iPhone faster and more efficiently, you can move several applications at the same time, from iOS 11. Long press on an application, until they all flicker, then move it slightly. Without letting go of this icon, with another finger, tap on other applications. They will pile up under your first finger. So you will move them all at once.
2. Significantly reduce the lighting on your iPhone screen
Thanks to this trick, you can further reduce the lighting of your screen compared to what is natively allowed by iOS. This will prove to be very practical, especially in complete darkness, to avoid being attacked by the light of the screen.
Go to Settings> General> Accessibility> Zoom> Zoom filter> Low light.
To activate / deactivate this function more quickly we recommend creating a shortcut. See you in Settings> General> Accessibility> Accessibility shortcut (at the bottom) and tap on Zoom so that it is “checked”. You can now activate or deactivate this function by pressing the side button 3 times.
3. React to your messages with Animoji and Memoji
With iOS 10, you could start reacting to your messages. Now, with iOS 12, in Messages you can react with your animoji. Select one and drag and drop the animoji on the message.
4. Swipe to delete in the calculator
There is a quick and easy way to delete a number (or a comma) in Apple’s calculator: swipe the screen. Swiping the screen from left to right or right to left, you will erase a number.
5. Customize SMS and call alerts
For text messages or calls, you can create a personalized vibration for everyone or for a specific contact.
Go to Settings> Sounds> Ringtone or His SMS> Vibration> Create a vibration. All you have to do is play with the screen to create a vibration sequence. Finally, you will have to stop, record and then name this new vibration.
On the contrary, if you want to assign a sequence for a single contact, open this contact> Modify> Ringtone or His SMS> Default> Vibration> Create a vibration.
6. Turn your iPhone into a magnifying glass
With the magnifying glass activated, your camera becomes a magnifying glass and you will be able to zoom in on an element of which you cannot distinguish all the details. Better than the conventional zoom of the camera, the magnifying glass is optimized to allow you to better see the small elements. Go to Settings> General> Accessibility> Magnifier and activate Magnifying glass.
Being an option in accessibility, once the magnifier is activated, press the side button 3 times and select Magnifier. The camera will open with a bar to adjust the zoom.
7. Share its location with the keyboard suggestions
During a chat in Messages, if your caller asks you where you are, Siri will offer to share your current location directly, without entering anything. If you start by writing something like “I am here”, it will also offer to transmit your location.
8. Make some notifications silent
You can, for one or more applications, decide that it is silent. In the notification center, swipe a notification to the left, Manage> Distribute silently. Thus all notifications of this application will be notified in silence.
To reactivate the sound, the manipulation will be the same, but you will end up pressing Distribute with alert.
9. Shortcuts to notification settings
When a notification banner appears, at the top of your screen, you drag it down, click on the 3 dots at the top right to obtain the same settings as above.
10. Search with lyrics
Got a song in mind and can’t find the song title? In iTunes on macOS or iTunes on iOS, with Apple Music, you can search for music by lyrics.
11. Shortcuts with search
You probably know, but the search tool of iOS is very practical to find an application, a contact or even a shortcut. This is the iOS Spotlight. It can also detect that you have copied a link, coming from an SMS for example, and by opening the search menu, you are offered to open it in Safari.
12. Siri possibilities: flash, passwords…
Siri can do many things, including opening applications. But do you know that it can also turn your flash on and off or display your passwords or that of a particular site (after verifying your identity)?
13. Searching for photos with multiple keywords
The Photos application recognizes elements that make them keywords so the search for photos is done more precisely.
14. Do not disturb at night
Do not disturb a Sleep function which appears once the activation times have been programmed. This turns off sounds, ringtones, notifications and darkens your screen.
15. Measure almost everything
It may not be as accurate as a meter, but the Measurement utility allows you to measure just about anything with artificial or augmented reality.
