Besides the large smartphones announced, such as the Galaxy S6 / S6 Edge from Samsung or the HTC One M9, many manufacturers have announced connected watches, often with Android Wear but not only for the MWC 2015 show.
So much so that these connected objects almost stole the show by playing on their metal finish wanting to get closer to the traditions of luxury watchmaking (Huawei Watch, LG Watch Urbane / Urbane LTE) Or by taking a more immediate approach, like watches Alcatel One Touch Watch or Wiko Watch.
Has this profusion of connected watch announcements changed analysts' very positive outlook for watch sales Apple Watch expected next April? Not so much if we believe the press release from the research firm Strategy Analytics.
The latter remains positioned on an expected volume of 15 million Watch watches passed in 2015, roughly in the middle of the general consensus, which should make Apple the first supplier of this type of connected gadget upon its arrival on the market, with immediately 55% market share.
This impressive deployment should increase the connected watch segment from a volume of 4.6 million units in 2014 to 28.1 million in 2015, representing a good growth of 511%. Strategy Analytics analysts note, however, that the first generation of Watch watches will not be free from defects: its design may seem quite bland compared to the latest products like the Huawei Watch, the autonomy will not do much better than that of its competitors and its price, from 349 €, can be an obstacle to a large deployment.
On this last point, we have however seen on numerous occasions that Apple did not have a major concern in imposing a high price list for its mobile products, users not reluctant to equip themselves despite the alternatives available to much lower costs.
