10 days to save fiber optics

Fiber is cutThe plan for equipping French households with fiber opticsAn optical fiber is a glass or plastic wire. Its diameter is very thin and has an interesting property: conducting light. Surrounded… seems to have declined by two years in a few weeks after the announcement of Orange and following the rants of Numericable and Free after the agreement between Orange and Neuf. To try to resolve a situation that seems very badly started, the government has just announced the launch of a public consultation on application decrees which directly concern the law of modernization of the economy which is so much debated among ISPs . The consultation will last until October 15 and will cover five projects. The avowed objective is to publish these decrees before the end of the year in order to breathe new life into fiber optics in France. 10 days to convince

The government seems to have understood that the law was not unanimous since 4 draft decrees relate to the right to fiber, the pre-equipment of new buildings in optical fiber and especially on the agreement between operator and owner which constitutes today the main stumbling block between the ISPs for the pooling of networks. The last two draft decrees relate to the information of the State and local authorities on the infrastructure located on their territory as well as the publication of information on the territory’s coverage by electronic communication services. Hopefully these decrees will bring ISPs back to better feelings, the debates are (re) open.
